This January 30th is World NTD Day, which aims to raise global awareness for the urgent need to end Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs). As part of this global day of recognition, Reaching the Last Mile invites you to join us in this series of virtual events to explore issues that intersect with a group of diseases that impact one out of every five people worldwide.
Societal impact of NTDs: in partnership with NYU

Partnering with NYU Abu Dhabi, this session will explore the broader societal impact of conditions like NTDs, including their economic, educational, and psychological implications. The session will also review how these preventable group of diseases can create cycles of poverty and cost developing nations billions of dollars every year and will highlight the policy changes that are needed to end NTDs.

The Power of Partnerships: UAE & The Carter Center Celebrate 30 Years

Our activity will focus on a caravan for the fight against trachoma and lymphatic filariasis as a public health problem in Burkina. This year, the caravan will take place outside the city, especially in the villages most affected by NTDs. This caravan will crisscross with posters featuring images of trachomatous trichiasis that causes blindness, posters featuring images of scrotal elephantiasis, and lymphatic filariasis athlete’s feet. We will also do articles in the print media and short videos. Please note: this activity will be French language.

World NTD Day Celebration with De-Neglect. Neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) are a group of preventable, treatable diseases that can steal people of their health, livelihood & sense of dignity. On January 30th, join us and hundreds of partners on celebrating the world-wide dedication to eliminate NTDs and its progress by spreading awareness!
We will be celebrating by posting infographics, sharing the latest news on NTDs, hosting a watch party for an infomercial on one of the NTDs, scabies, along with a Q&A section.
